Issues

What are the issues that need to be addressed?  List them here!  Start a discussion.

(Please avoid rants and off-topic political punditry.)

  1. * RAW MILK. Regulations against it should be rejected and resisted.

    * GMO CROPS. Alfalfa is polluting non-GMO and organic cattle feed, which will make organic meat impossible. Plus, Monsanto will sue you if it finds that some of its genetic material has blown into your field. Over-use of Roundup is creating Super Weeds you can’t get rid of. Growing organic corn or soybeans is virtually impossible.

    * WATER. Across North America, the world’s largest beverage corporation, Nestlé, is staking claim to community water resources – ruining streams, ponds, wells and aquifers, and raising serious questions about who should be allowed to control our water.

    * LAND. Industrial farming is driving up the cost of land and crop inputs; putting family farms out of business.

    * WILD RICE. Protect Our Manoomin, a grassroots organization, in conjunction with concerned environmental groups, will be hosting a rally in response to H.F. 1010. This bill will raise the sulfate level from 10 mg/L to 50 mg/L. This will seriously impact manoomin (wild lake and river rice) and the ecosystem in northeastern Minnesota.

  2. Food sovereignty mandate – taken from the Declaration:

    The right of all people to save seed;
    The rights to freely grow, process, consume and exchange food and farm products;
    That people have an obligation to protect and stand on these rights;
    We have the right to reject such Governmental decrees, statutes, regulations [and]or Corporate practices that threaten these rights;
    We shall resist any and all infringements upon these rights, from whatever sources that are contrary to these rights of the People.
